Wandering

Christopher my mind is wandering
Far and wide today
Thoughts of you fill my head
Memories of yesterday

Uncle Keith shared special memories
this week, one sweet night
When you and dad came to sled
Down the hill in “Canada”, right? ;-)

Keith said he wouldn’t have done that
If it hadn’t been for you
Your smile and youthful exhuberance
Infectious for all of us too

Football and a snowball fight
So much fun we had
Then hot chocolate of course
To warm our hearts and hands

I have a photo of you
When you were just a lad
Slouching in our big chair
Waiving your little hand

You had this way of waving
That is peculiar to you
Hand near your face, fingers bent
It makes me smile anew

Of course with the wave
There always was THE SMILE
That genuine love of life
You shared with us a while

Then there was the day
Keith threw you in the pond
Thought he’d gone too far that day
You were angry for too long

Soon he was forgiven though
The story became folklore
Told to family and friends
With a smile and laugh once more

Christopher my mind is wandering
Far and wide today
Thoughts of you fill my head
Memories of yesterday

So hard to grasp this two year mark
Our hearts are filled with you
And all the fun and love we shared
And know that we still do

We share you with each other
So you’ll forever stay
Alive in our hearts
Yesterday and today

So we think of you today
As we face this mark in time
Too much time without your smile
Without your laughs and rhymes

Carrying you wherever we go
You’ll live on in us
And someday we’ll meet again
And share our love and hugs

On this our second year
Of missing you so much
Stay close by sweet Christopher
So we can feel your touch

Love aunt Karen
